B is for Better

A
couple of days ago Miss Meliorate and I were drinking margaritas and having dinner at a Tex-Mex restaurant not too far from our houses.
We were both in a bit of a funk, bad news received, not a great day at work, and just generally annoyed with people.  We were talking about improving our attitudes when Miss M mentioned that she and Nu had been discussing New Year’s resolutions and decided instead of making a list of resolutions they were going to adopt the motto “Be Better” (I’ll let them expand on that conversation/revelation in their own entries).  I was shocked when I heard this because that has been my motto since my junior year in high school!  I knew there was a reason we were such good friends.  Seriously, I had been wondering, glad it is all cleared up. Today we invited Miss Brioc to join us and now we are complete.

Being better is going to mean something different for all of us.  I like that it can evolve. When I was in high school it was: be a better dancer, be a better friend, be a better daughter, and be a better student.  Now some things will stay the same, be a better friend and daughter, and some will be new: be a better wife, be healthier, keep learning, have a better attitude, be better at work, be a better dog mom, and many more to come.  (One is to be better at grammar, I'm worried about my punctuation in my last sentence.)

Not to give away my exact age, but it has been over ten years since I was a junior in high school and unfortunately I can’t say I’ve always lived by the “be better” creed.  I hope sharing this with my best friends will help us all improve ourselves and who knows, maybe we will inspire others to better themselves as well.
